This Venn diagram is used to help better visualize the intricacies involving successful romantic relationships. We have chosen specific factors which have a siginificant impact on relationship success in the long-run. While it may appear somewhat complex, let's face it, romantic relationships are even more complicated. There are varying degrees within each of these variables as well as other influencing factors not mentioned which add even more complexity to romantic relationships. But, this serves as a critical starting point for long-term relationship success.
To simplify this diagram, each colored circle represents an essential piece of what makes relationships successful and meaningful. When all four colors overlap, there is a higher likelihood of long-term relationship harmony, fulfillment, happiness, and (ultimately) success.
The 3 components of Dr. Robert Sternberg's theory—passion, intimacy, and commitment—encompass the diagram. When both partners' FHIT core values are surrounded by the 3 components of the Triangular Theory of Love, these relationships have the amazing ability to flourish for many years. We can't emphasize enough just how integral all of these components are to the health and structural stability of any successful long-term relationship.
